Purpose
The Quality Control Inspector will be required to comprehend specifications to determine testing and inspection procedures and equipment to be used. The candidate must be able to read dials or digital displays, compare results with specifications, record test and inspection data, and confer with engineers, technicians, and production personnel. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to perform dimensional checks and visual verifications of raw material, fasteners, fabricated parts, and machined parts to acceptance criteria; document and track non-conformance reports and material; and work with minimal instruction and supervision.
Location
Requires daily onsite attendance; this is not a remote-work position.

Essential
Responsible for performing inspections on materials, products, assemblies, and sub-assemblies.
Ability to read drawings, comprehend specifications and tolerances, read dial indicators and digital gages, compare results with specifications, record test data, and confer with engineers, technicians, and production personnel as necessary.
Demonstrate advanced ability to perform dimensional checks and visual verifications of fabricated and machined parts to acceptance criteria.
Uses measurement and test equipment, including Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), Faro Arms, and functional gages, to determine whether products meet all stated requirements.
Validate the quality of machined and fabricated parts and assemblies in terms of dimensional accuracy and visual verification according to acceptance criteria.
Ability to review data supplied with material and parts against acceptance criteria, including dimensional reports, Material Test Reports (MTRs), traceability reports, and certificates of conformity.
Liaise with suppliers as required to ensure acceptable product, documentation, and service quality is maintained.
Understand and adhere to requirements for gage calibration and Measurement System Analysis (MSA).
Develop and maintain inspection plans per drawing requirements.
Interpret inspection results.
Assists more experienced technicians and professionals in technical tasks.
Performs technical work tasks requiring moderate technical experience.

Ensures in-date calibrated measuring equipment is used for performing inspections.
Issues, documents, investigates, and tracks non-conformances and inspection records in the following SmartSolve modules: Inspection Management, Non-Conformance, and Corrective Action/Preventive Action.
Shall be capable of completing inspections such as FAT, SIT, FAI, In-Process, Final, and Receiving inspections.
Works as a team member when performing or witnessing inspection and/or testing for internal and external customers, third parties, customer inspectors, and engineering/manufacturing representatives.
Assists in developing and improving quality system procedures, work instructions, flow charts, and associated process improvements.
Uses safe material-handling and preservation techniques, including operating a forklift and jib cranes and using packing/preservation methods to prevent deterioration or damage.
Product identification responsibilities include verification and/or physical product marking for traceability.
Supports customer satisfaction and loyalty processes.
Supports the organization’s drive toward excellence in Health and Safety performance.
Support includes, but is not limited to, participating in STOP observations, reporting HSE observations, attending HSE-related meetings, supporting HSE improvement projects, and performing any other related task deemed appropriate by the Manager.
Supports the MDI process by backing up the Quality Control Supervisor as needed to compile metrics and lead meetings.

Qualifications
Qualifications
Required
Minimum of 7 years of experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum of 7 years of experience with advanced measurement techniques.
Minimum of 7 years of experience using advanced quality inspection techniques.
Basic understanding of Statistical Process Control.
Knowledge of ISO 9001 requirements.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and document management software, such as Kofax and Adobe.
Desired
Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Knowledge of ISO 17020 and ISO 17025.
Knowledge of NDT methodologies.
Knowledge of welding methodologies.
Experience operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) for dimensional inspection and product verification.
Experience using Faro Arm portable coordinate measurement systems for dimensional inspection and verification.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Ability to communicate requirements effectively with suppliers and subcontractors.
Working Conditions
This position is considered SHOP WORK and is characterized as follows:
Work is generally performed indoors (80%) with occasional outdoor work (20%). Hours depend on the assigned shift.
Occasional exposure to airborne dust in the workplace.
Occasional travel to vendor sites for product evaluations.
Work surface is stable and flat.
Requires a significant amount of manual dexterity, including work with measuring and testing equipment, marking tools, and hand and power tools.
