About the Role

If you are looking to kick start a career that is rewarding, where you can really make a difference, then come join our Project Controls Graduate Programme. You will become a part of one of the major infrastructure projects in the UK at Sizewell C, powering the nation today whilst helping to build a sustainable energy future for tomorrow.

The Opportunity

Get ready to launch your career with our customised 2-year training programme! You will rotate through exciting placements that are designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge you need to succeed.

You will learn from our experts, gain valuable experience, build your confidence and have the support of a career line manager and placement manager, mentor and buddy throughout your time on the programme.

SZC Project Controls will serve as a centre of excellence, managing and strategically using delivery performance management information. Our team enables successful delivery of SZC Projects through proactive Project Controls that drives forward-looking solutions to continuously improve performance.

What You Will Be Doing

As a Project Controls Graduate at Sizewell C, you will gain hands-on experience working alongside multi discipline teams and our supply chain, develop technical and professional skills, and contribute to meaningful projects that support the UK’s journey to net zero.

Examples of some of the activities/responsibilities done across Project Control rotations (but note this isn’t guaranteed, is based on rotations and business needs at the time):

  • Engage with stakeholders across Project Controls and wider SZC business

  • Working with existing practitioners in the team (such as Change Managers/Engineers)

  • Contributing meaningfully to weekly team meetings, sharing knowledge and updates.

  • Attend key Leadership Team meetings such as Risk Reviews and Change Committees followed by subsequent reporting

  • Add value to monthly Project Control reporting cycle, managing information from all functions – Cost, Reporting, Schedule, Baseline & Change, Risk.

  • Exposure to continuous improvement including data quality, AI adoption, process optimisation, and automation

  • Daily use of systems such as Excel, Power BI, PowerPoint and Primavera P6

  • Data analysis and presentation into meaningful business change

  • KPI development, performance monitoring and reporting

  • Thinking critically to solve problems with a meticulous attention to detail

Your Work Location

Whilst you will be based at our Sizewell C office in London with placements of up to 6 months, you may also be required to travel to another location for your placements, to support other business units and to expand your knowledge and experience of the Nuclear Industry.

Please note that this programme is rotational in its nature, so you will be required to move around.

Who You Are

To be eligible for this Sizewell C graduate programme, you will need to have achieved, or be expecting to achieve, a bachelor’s degree (2:2 or higher) in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths), Project Controls, Project Management or Business disciplines

We are looking for people with a genuine interest in nuclear energy, strong communication and organisational skills, and have a strategic mindset that brings innovative ideas. You will need to be open minded, flexible and have an agile way of thinking to succeed in a dynamic fast paced project environment. Effective interpersonal skills are key, as well as being able to demonstrate high ethical behaviour, integrity, humility, and character.

This aligns to our key values:

Be Your Best

Mastery, learning and standards

  • We take quality seriously, even when pace and pressure increase

Be True

Truth, courage and stewardship

  • We surface risks early, including those that are difficult to raise

  • We name trade-offs openly rather than smoothing them over

  • We treat bad news as valuable information

  • We make decisions based on long term stewardship, not short-term convenience

Be Together

Partnership, fairness and share ownership

  • We listen in ways that lead to visible change

  • We hold accountability fairly and consistently

  • We include others early, before decisions are made

  • We solve problems collectively across boundaries

#Earlycareers

When joining Sizewell C, you may wonder why you are contacted by colleagues with an EDF email or see the EDF logo on portals that you access and/or documentation you receive; this is because we have partnered with EDF for the provision of a number of support services whilst we complete a successful transition out of the EDF group.

At Sizewell C we encourage and embrace diversity and how it can improve our experience and performance at work. It is a requirement that those who join us have the right to work in the UK.
