## Job description

Mechanic II diagnoses, repairs, and maintains light- and heavy-duty commercial trucks and equipment, keeping the fleet safe, reliable, and ready for operations. This role handles a range of simple to complex mechanical and electrical repairs, works independently, and participates in a rotating on-call schedule.

**Job Responsibilities:**

_Include but are not limited to_

- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues on light- and heavy-duty commercial trucks and equipment using diagnostic tools and failure analysis.

- Repair simple to complex mechanical issues and troubleshoot moderate electrical issues.

- Perform preventive and routine maintenance on light- and heavy-duty commercial trucks and equipment.

- Recommend cost-effective repair solutions that minimize equipment downtime.

- Test and verify the correct operation of all repairs and adjustments before returning equipment to service.

- Follow company workflow procedures and safety policies.

- Keep assigned work areas clean, organized, and safe.

- Participate in a rotating on-call schedule.

**Required Qualifications:**

- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a mechanic, including preventive maintenance or related mechanical services.

- High school diploma or equivalent

- EPA Section 609 MVAC and DOT air brake certifications.

- Strong problem-solving skills, including applying failure analysis to reach an accurate diagnosis and reading technical manuals and instructions.

- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office) and clear verbal and written communication skills.

- Customer service–focused, detail-oriented, and works efficiently as part of a team.

- Ability to sit, kneel, stand, and walk for extended periods; lift 70 pounds from floor to waist, carry 50 pounds, and push or pull up to 100 pounds.

**Preferred Qualifications:**

- Certificate from a vocational or trade school.

- Mechanic Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) T-Series for medium/heavy trucks.

- Must own and maintain a personal set of mechanic’s tools.
